Who are we?

Russell is the founder of Pilates Lineage a manufacturer of handcrafted specialty Pilates Apparatus.


Joseph, as for myself, I’m a Pilates Instructor Barefoot Contrology Certified by Simona Cipriani. I’ve spent most of my life as a Photographer, and all of my life redesigning things that I thought could be improved

The Name

Universal, is in homage to the original Patent of Joseph Pilates “Universal Reformer”. For Joseph Pilates I don’t have a clue as to what he thought "Universal" had to do with anything, for us it is about making Pilates and the Apparatus more flexible, adaptable, and easier to fit into one’s life and work!
Pilates, is self evident! But again, for us it is more than just the name of a ”fad” It is an adherence to, and appreciation of, authentic classical pilates.
Machine, In this instance the reference is not to the Apparatus, but rather to ourselves! 
We are the Machine and the Heart that are building these pieces, this company, this future
